Happy Landings Animal Shelter
Happy Landings Animal Shelter, boarding kennels and cattery is based on a 6 acre site at Pylle, near Shepton Mallet. A registered charity, the shelter opened in May 1995, and now re-homes between 400 and 500 animals a year. All sorts of abandoned, stray & unwanted animals are helped at Happy Landings from pot-bellied pigs, goats and battery hensto guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets and of course dozens of dogs and cats.
The shelter has suffered from a few very difficult years in terms of funding and staff levels are kept to a bare minimum to save money, meaning that existing staff are often overworked to breaking point. The shelter needs to increase its income to enable it to make desperately needed improvements to its buildings and infrastructure and would love to have enough cash to employ one more part time member of staff.
